The base camp of the tallest mountain in the world at Mount Everest , the Nepalese dialect for Mount Everest is called Sagarmāthā and in Tibetan as Chomolungma, meet the earth's highest mountain above sea level, located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas.The mighty Mount Everest lies at 8,848 meters ,base camp located 5,235 meters where all summit climbers make their home for 42 days.Base camp where one can get to witness the mighty mountain up close and personal if not attempting to summit .
The first ascenders were Sir Edmund Hilary , Tenzing Norgay ( Sherpa ).The journey to the base camp is moderate to a difficult trek depending on how one acclimatizes for the high altitude areas's.The journey begins in Kathmandu airport towards Luka airport ( one of the most dangerous airports to land on a mountain landing stripe) ,if weather permits the landing is pure joyride .The trek route consists of Tea houses along the journey with enough warmth and food to help one body to get acclimatized. Namche bazaar is one of the villages along the route ,here on can buy all necessities for the trek ,handful of restaurants /cafe's/ internet shops ,also visit the local Monasteries for blessings .
On October 1985, former President of the US, Jimmy Carter, along with his wife, Rosalynn visited Namche Bazaar on a personal chopper of the then king, Lt. Birendra Bikram Shah Dev.Ama Dablam ,Lhotse are other mountains at the Khumbhu region .Meet the culture and way of life of the famous Sherpa people.
